What it is
The T46S is a business desk phone with a 4.3-inch color screen, up to sixteen phone lines and gigabit network ports. Its color display makes contacts, call status and coworker busy lights easy to read at a glance. A USB port takes an optional headset or wireless adapter. It's part of Yealink's T4S series, the generation before the current T5 phones.
Why you'd want it
- Easy to read: a big color screen shows who's calling and who's free.
- Built for heavy use: sixteen lines and lots of programmable keys.
- Fast for your computer: gigabit pass-through keeps the PC behind it at full speed.
- Room to add: USB port for an optional headset or wireless adapter.
Do you need it?
Choose it for managers and power users who watch coworkers' lines and transfer a lot of calls. Everyday users don't need it: the T42S or T53 cost less. If you want Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in, the current-generation T54W is the equivalent. This model ships without a power supply: it takes power from your network switch over the network cable (PoE, Power over Ethernet). If your switch doesn't provide PoE, add the Yealink power supply or a PoE injector to your order.
