SOC as a Service (SOCaaS) Market worth $16.68 billion by 2031

SOC as a Service Market Forecast Reaches $16.68 Billion

MarketsandMarkets projects the global SOC as a Service market will grow from $9.04 billion in 2026 to $16.68 billion by 2031. The forecast calls for a 13.0% compound annual growth rate during that period, after a reported market size of $8.13 billion in 2025.

That sounds like a major shift. For most small businesses, it is not a reason to buy another security product tomorrow. It is a sign that more companies are paying someone else to watch their systems because running a security operations center internally is expensive and difficult.

What SOC as a Service actually provides

A SOC is a team and a set of tools that monitor activity, identify suspicious behavior, investigate alerts, and help respond to incidents. A managed SOC performs that work for multiple customers instead of requiring each customer to hire its own round-the-clock staff.

The market report covers managed SIEM and log management, vulnerability scanning and assessment, and threat detection and remediation. It also includes endpoint, network, and cloud security. Those categories describe the work being sold, not a guarantee that every service includes everything.

That distinction matters. A provider may advertise 24-hour monitoring while leaving your staff responsible for investigating alerts or approving emergency action. Another provider may include response help but charge separately for incident work. We would ask for those details before comparing monthly prices.

The forecast is useful, but it is not proof of protection

The projected numbers come from a market forecast. They are not audited revenue figures for individual providers, and they do not show how many small businesses are actually using SOC services. The announcement also does not prove that a particular vendor will detect a breach or contain it quickly.

So we would not use the $16.68 billion figure as a sales argument. We would use it as evidence that managed security monitoring is becoming a normal purchasing option.

Fully managed SOCaaS is forecast to grow at a 13.3% CAGR. The private-sector segment is forecast to grow at 13.6%. North America is expected to represent 36.8% of the market in 2026. Those figures describe demand across a large market that includes enterprises, public organizations, and security providers. They do not set a sensible budget for a 30-person company.

What this means for a 30-person business

A small company usually does not need a miniature corporate SOC. It does need someone watching important alerts outside normal office hours, reviewing suspicious sign-ins, and knowing who to call when an employee clicks a malicious link.

That is where managed monitoring can make financial sense. Hiring security analysts for nights, weekends, vacations, and incident response would cost far more than many small businesses can justify. A managed service spreads that staffing cost across customers.

But monitoring cannot fix poor basics. If administrator accounts lack multifactor authentication, laptops are missing security updates, backups have never been tested, or former employees still have access, a SOC is watching a weak foundation.

We would first confirm the basics. Then we would consider managed detection for Microsoft 365, endpoints, firewalls, cloud accounts, and other systems that hold business data. The exact coverage should follow the company’s risks, not a vendor’s largest package.

Questions to ask before signing a SOCaaS contract

Ask who reviews alerts and where that team is located. Ask whether a human investigates suspicious activity or whether the service only forwards automated notifications. Ask what happens at 2 a.m. when ransomware starts spreading.

Get clear answers about response authority. Can the provider isolate a laptop without waiting for approval? Does the monthly fee include investigation? How long are logs retained? Which systems are covered? What reports will the owner receive?

We would also request a sample alert and a sample monthly report. If the report is a pile of security jargon that no manager can use, the service is not ready for your business.

Review your current backup, multifactor authentication, patching, and alert coverage this month. If gaps remain, IT911Now can help determine whether managed SOC monitoring fits the risk and the budget, rather than buying it because a market forecast sounds impressive.
